These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of FI Beacon ("the Service"), operated by FI Beacon ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use FI Beacon.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using FI Beacon you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and that you accept these Terms in full. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when material changes are made. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
2. Description of Service
FI Beacon is a web application that helps users track progress toward Financial Independence (FI). The Service provides tools to define an FI target, record monthly savings snapshots, set personal goals, configure reminders, and view a dashboard with charts and key metrics.
The Service stores only self-reported, non-sensitive financial data (e.g., total savings figures, general expense categories, goal descriptions). It does not connect to bank accounts, store transaction-level data, or process sensitive personal information beyond what is described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Not Financial Advice
FI Beacon is an informational and tracking tool only. Nothing in the Service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. All calculations, projections, and metrics provided by FI Beacon — including estimated years to financial independence, saving rates, and progress percentages — are based solely on user-supplied data and simplified assumptions.
You should consult a qualified financial professional before making decisions that affect your personal finances. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the information presented by the Service.
4. User Responsibilities
When using the Service you agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful information when creating your account and entering data into the application.
- Keep your login credentials confidential and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- Use the Service only for its intended purpose — personal financial independence tracking.
- Refrain from attempting to access other users' data, reverse-engineer the Service, or interfere with its operation.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
5. Subscription Terms
Billing
FI Beacon offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis. The billing cycle depends on the plan you select (monthly or yearly). All payments are processed securely through DodoPayments, our Merchant of Record. Prices are displayed at the time of purchase and may be updated with prior notice.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from within the application. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain access to paid features until that date. Cancelling prevents any future charges from being applied to your account.
Refund Policy
All subscription payments are non-refundable. No prorated refunds will be issued for unused time remaining in a billing period. Exceptions may apply where required by applicable consumer protection law. If you believe you are entitled to a refund under such circumstances, please contact us.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, FI Beacon and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or use — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
7. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature within the application. Account deletion is permanent, requires a confirmation code for security, and results in the removal of all associated data.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service — with or without notice — if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or otherwise acted in a manner that could harm other users or the integrity of the Service.
Upon termination by either party, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will remain in effect.
8. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Romania, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Romania.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
